For the first time, contemporary historian Jan Schleusener comprehensively documents the wave of confiscations that took place in Munich shortly after the pogroms of November 1938, in which the Gestapo seized 2,500 works of art, furniture and jewelry from numerous Jewish households. The author details the events leading to the looting operation, explains the motives and interests behind it, shows who profited and reports on how the perpetrators and victims spoke about it – or remained silent – after the war.
