Project news: Bomann Museum in Celle presents provenance research project

Date 2016.04.18

In a press interview last week, Bomann Museum director Dr. Jochen Meiners reported on the museum’s research provenance project which began last March. The project aims to systematically investigate the museum’s collections in search of cultural assets seized as a result of Nazi persecution - especially those of Jewish ownership (“Nazi confiscated property”). The museum is currently reviewing acquisitions made between 1933 and 1945, and will subsequently investigate cases which arouse suspicion.
The German Lost Art Foundation is funding the project with 123,000 euros over a two-year period.
