Network of European Restitution Committees publishes fifth newsletter
At the start of 2019, a network was formed of five committees in Europe that deal with the research and restitution of cultural property looted by the Nazis. This network has now published its fifth newsletter (PDF, 3 MB).
The network consists of the Beratende Kommission im Zusammenhang mit der Rückgabe NS-verfolgungsbedingt entzogenen Kulturguts, insbesondere aus jüdischem Besitz (Germany), the Commission pour l’indemnisation des victimes de spoliations (France), the Spoliation Advisory Panel (UK), the Restitutiecommissie (Netherlands) and the Kommission für Provenienzforschung (Austria).
The principles of cooperation were agreed at the international Spoliation Conference held in London in September 2017. One year later, the five committees put this idea into practice and set out the conditions for cooperation within their respective political mandates and structures.
