This year's autumn conference of the German Lost Art Foundation will take place November 17-19, 2021, as a virtual conference and in cooperation with the Research Center for Material Culture, the research institute of the National Museum of World Cultures, the Netherlands. The topic is the often forgotten history of today's debate on the return of cultural goods and collections from colonial contexts. In cooperation with five partners, the German Lost Art Foundation published the “Provenance Research Manual to Identify Cultural Property Seized Due to Persecution During the National Socialist Era”. Lynn Rother, Senior Provenance Specialist at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, describes the transaction in which the State of Prussia bought more than 4,000 artworks from the Dresdner Bank for the Berlin museums for the huge sum of 7.5 million Reichsmarks on August 15, 1935.
