The Help Desk offers advice and assistance to victims of the Nazi regime and their descendants on questions relating to Nazi theft of cultural property. Serving as a central and initial low-threshold point of contact in Germany, it is aimed in particular at people whose place of residence is outside Germany and who are unfamiliar with German procedures, especially in connection with cultural federalism. The Help Desk seeks to provide support in taking initial steps as well as providing further contacts and information. We will also be happy to help initiate discussions with museums and other institutions.

Led by executive board member Uwe M. Schneede, the conference organized by the German Lost Art Foundation in conjunction with the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor gave an overview of the current state of research into the confiscation of cultural assets in the Soviet Occupation Zone and the GDR and opened up new research perspectives.

New Perspectives on Provenance Research in Germany

The conference “New Perspectives on Provenance Research in Germany” on 27-28 November at the Jewish Museum in Berlin was a major success for the German Lost Art Foundation. Directed by Uwe M. Schneede, member of the executive board, the conference welcomed approximately 350 participants on both days.
