The Help Desk offers advice and assistance to victims of the Nazi regime and their descendants on questions relating to Nazi theft of cultural property. Serving as a central and initial low-threshold point of contact in Germany, it is aimed in particular at people whose place of residence is outside Germany and who are unfamiliar with German procedures, especially in connection with cultural federalism. The Help Desk seeks to provide support in taking initial steps as well as providing further contacts and information. We will also be happy to help initiate discussions with museums and other institutions.

Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden restitute Largillière's "Portrait of a Lady as Pomona"

29. January 2021

The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD) restitutes the "Portrait of a Lady as Pomona" from the holdings of the Old Masters Picture Gallery to the descendants of the Jewish banker and art collector Jules Strauss (1861-1943). In the course of their own research, the descendants had become aware of a report in the Lost Art Database of the German Lost Art Foundation. The SKD had posted the report after finding indications that the painting may have been seized from its owner during the National Socialist tyranny due to persecution.

Commemoration of the Victims of National Socialism

27. January 2021

Today, Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the Bundestag commemorates the victims of National Socialism. Guest speakers will be the President of the Jewish Community of Munich and Upper Bavaria, Dr h. c. Charlotte Knobloch, and the publicist Marina Weisband.
